Homework Club

About this ministry...

LiFT Homework Club serves the children in the Roberts Lane area by providing a safe, Christ-centered, environment where they can receive academic help, Bible teaching, and mentoring.  Our greatest need is for volunteers who are willing to serve one or two afternoons each week.  Each summer we need "Summer Readers," adults who are willing to come for half and hour on Tuesdays to read with a student.

We also have raised garden beds behind our building, so if you like to garden, please feel free to contact Janet Cater at homework@liftbakersfield.com

If you would like to make a monetary donation specifically to Homework Club please note "Homework Club" or the specific event listed below in the comment section when submitting your donation.  Donations can be made online at the bottom of this page or on the Contact Us page.

1. Back to School:  Each August we take out students shopping to purchase new school shoes. Additionally, the students will receive new backpacks and school supplies.

2. Field Trips:  Many of our students never have a chance to get out of their neighborhood.  We plan several field trips each Summer.

3. Reward Trips:  We also host three reward trips each year. Two trips are for good attendance and good behavior and one is for completing the summer reading program.

4. Christmas Shopper: During Christmas we purchase one new clothing item per child.  If you are interested in being a "Christmas Shopper" please contact Janet Cater during the month of November.
